Source Water Risk Management Plans are a regulatory requirement under the Water Services Act 2021.

The Source Water Risk Management Plan is a fundamental document intended to align with a water suppliers Drinking Water Safety Plan (DWSP). It is the starting point for the Drinking Water Safety Plan risk tables and fed in some cases by the Cyanobacterial Risk Assessment.

Gaining an understanding of hazards and risks present in the supply’s Source Water is an important step in the delivery of safe Drinking Water, taking a source to tap approach.

This risk assessment process identifies the hazards and risks posed to the source water and outlines the preventive measures to mitigate the risks posed to source water prior to treatment at the water treatment plant.
